This disc is not the first recording by Jenkins' Ear. Cassette tapes have been produced and possibly even the odd wax cylinder!
Formed in 1992 to take part in the Brest/Douarnenez 92 Maritime Festival the original line-up of seven was well received and continued to perform at Maritime Festivals in Normandy, Brittany, England and the Channel Islands throughout the 90's
The line-up of 5 on this disc was 'cemented' in around 2003 and was stable up until 2017 when Steve left the band. The current line-up of 4 continue at the time of writing this in June 2021

Jenkins' Ear Guernsey

In 1992 a group of 7 Guernseymen, passionate about the sea and it's traditions, got together and formed Jenkins' Ear.

They made their debut in the summer of 92 at the Brest-Douarnenez92 Maritime Festival. Since then they have built up a very large repertoire of British, American and French shanties, forebitters and sea songs.
